East Alton - Wood River Oilerettes Tryouts Permission Slip

Oilerettes Dance Team tryouts for the 2010-2011 school year will be held the week of April 12 at East Alton - Wood River High School in the Auditorium Gym.  The schedule of events for the week is listed below:

**Routine & Technique Sessions**
Monday, April 12^th 3-5 and 7-9
Tuesday April 13^th 3-5 and 7-9
Wednesday April 14^th 3-5 and 7-9

**Try-outs**
Thursday April 15^th 3-5 and 7-9

**Parents Meeting for Team Members**
Friday April 16^th 6pm MANDATORY

It is important to realize the commitment that a student makes as a member of the EAWRHS Oilerettes Dance Team.  During the spring and summer there will be practice sessions held to prepare for camp. During the fall and competition season practices will be held three to five times a week, sometimes more depending on the amount of work needed to prepare for a competition.  Saturday morning practices, Sunday evening practices, and practices when school is not in session are not uncommon.  ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY!!!  This is emphasized because for a dance team to be the best it can be, the individual girls must practice together to work towards looking like one.  Doctor and dentist visits should be scheduled around practice as best as possible and work is absolutely, positively no excuse.  Any member who fails to attend practice regularly will be terminated from the squad.  The Oilerettes participate in football and basketball games, Halloween parades, out-of-town competitions, and fundraising events. 

During the summer, all members are REQUIRED to attend the UDA Dance Camp.  No excuses!  This is mandatory for team bonding.  The dates for the UDA Camp at Jelly Stone that we will be attending are June 7 to June 11 and July 9 - July 11. Team Home camp is scheduled for July 26 - 30 at St. Bernard’s School Gym. Parent meetings may occur this year, every three months or so, to keep you updated on camp, uniform costs, competition ideas, fundraisers, and other things.  Some fundraisers may require your attendance, please keep this in mind.  Your cooperation and your child’s cooperation is vital to the success of our fundraisers and ultimately to the success of the team itself!!!

Please be aware that the Oilerettes Dance Team has tried to maintain and better its reputation within the community and within the competitive field.  This team is not just a spirit team, but a very, very hardworking group that strives to consistently reach the State level of competition.
